Merger and History
The Brisbane Lions Football Club was formed in 1996 through the merger of the Brisbane Bears and Fitzroy Lions. The merger was approved by the Australian Football League (AFL) on July 4, 1996, and the Lions made their debut the following year.
New Emblem
In 2001, the club unveiled a new emblem featuring a football emblazoned with the words "Brisbane Lions" and the Fitzroy Lion within the oval.
