Deadly Shark Attack: Russian Tourist Killed

Tragedy Strikes at Egyptian Resort

Victim Mauled by Tiger Shark

An Egyptian resort town is reeling from a gruesome shark attack that claimed the life of a Russian tourist. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at a beach near Hurghada, a popular destination for diving and snorkeling. The victim, a 23-year-old man, was swimming when he was attacked by a tiger shark.

Despite the efforts of lifeguards and paramedics, the tourist was pronounced dead at the scene. The shark was reportedly 2 meters long and had been spotted in the area prior to the attack. As a result of the tragedy, Egyptian authorities have banned swimming at the affected beach.

This latest incident marks the second unprovoked shark death in Egypt in 2022 and the fourth in the past decade, raising concerns about the safety of tourists in the Red Sea region. In 2020, a 68-year-old Austrian woman was killed by a shark in the same area.
