Bostons Depth Proves Too Much For Dallas

Celtics Cruise Past Mavericks in Game 1 of NBA Finals

Boston's Depth Proves Too Much for Dallas

Luka-Kyrie Duo Struggles in Mavericks Debut

The Boston Celtics took an early lead in the 2024 NBA Finals on Wednesday night, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1. Boston's balanced attack and strong defense proved too much for the Mavericks, who struggled to find their footing in the series opener.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 26 points and 8 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown added 25 points. Kristaps Porzingis, who returned from a calf injury for the Mavericks, led Dallas with 20 points, but the team's other star acquisition, Kyrie Irving, struggled, scoring only 13 points on 4-of-15 shooting.

The Celtics' depth proved to be a major factor in the game. Boston's bench outscored Dallas' 41-18, with Grant Williams and Derrick White combining for 25 points. The Celtics also dominated the rebounding battle, outrebounding the Mavericks 53-38.

The Mavericks shot just 39.3% from the field and 27.3% from three-point range, while the Celtics shot 48.2% from the field and 37.5% from three-point range.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Friday night in Boston.
