Paris Apartment Building Fire Kills Three
Deadly Blaze Tears Through Building in Central Paris
Three people have died in a fire that broke out in an apartment building in central Paris on Wednesday night.
The fire started on the seventh floor of the building on Boulevard des Italiens in the 9th arrondissement at around 11:30 p.m. local time. It quickly spread to other floors, forcing residents to evacuate.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by 2:30 a.m., but not before it had caused extensive damage to the building. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The victims have been identified as a 60-year-old woman, a 40-year-old man, and a 20-year-old woman. Nine other people were injured in the fire, including three firefighters.
The fire is the deadliest in Paris since 2019, when a blaze at Notre Dame Cathedral killed 15 people.
